Electronic Battery Management - Express

The charging systems in many vehicles on our road are no longer a stand alone electrical system.
As seen in almost every modern vehicle, we have moved towards electronically managing the charging system in order to meet the emissions requirements, high current demands and changing battery designs associated with Start/Stop technology. This knowledge is required to completely and correctly diagnose and perform electrical work.
During the course you will:
- Explore different diagnostic test procedures that can be used to identify faults in both conventional and smart charge systems.
- Examine proper methods for fitting accessories and recognise potential issues that may occur.
- Understand what tests are available on typical Start/Stop systems that are used to locate faults in the system components and wiring
- Develop a thorough understanding of typical battery management systems and how to to effectively complete a system battery adaptation process using a diagnostic tester.

Course topics include:
- Vehicle electrical and charging systems
- Alternator and regulator types and evolution
- Power management strategies and battery sensing systems
- Alternator interfaces and control signals (DFM etc)
- Modern battery design, replacement (ECU coding, battery type) and modifications
- Practical on vehicle testing and diagnosis procedures
