BHEV02
Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Powertrain & Control Systems
Taking your Hybrid & EV knowledge beyond the fundamentals.
Course Description
This is an advanced course it is required for the participant to have completed fundamental high voltage training.
For example, Bosch HEV101 course or equivalent RTO competency.
Objectives of the training course:
- Provide an in-depth exploration of electric drive motors
- Provide an in-depth exploration of hybrid & EV control systems
- Provide an advanced understanding of how to correctly maintain hybrid & EV systems
- Provide an advanced understanding of how to correctly diagnose and repair electric motors
- Provide an advanced understanding of how to correctly diagnose and repair inverters and related systems
Course topics include:
- Motors: Diagnosis of motor failure modes and performing insulation testing, as well as exploring the design variations and features of electric motors.
- Motor Control: Understanding the principles of electric motor control and the operating strategies used in EVs.
- Inverters: Learn the inner workings of inverters and how to test, diagnose and replace inverters in a modern EV.
- Semiconductors: Examination of the different semiconductor technology’s in use, their practical testing and the role in motor control systems.
- Capacitors: Understanding the application of capacitors in EV power systems for energy storage and bus filtering as well as testing procedures.
- Rotor Position Sensors: Learn how to diagnose and repair the rotor position sensors we use in electric vehicle motors.
