Course Description​

The On Board Diagnosis system is an integral part of all modern vehicles, both petrol and diesel. A clear understanding of the On Board Diagnosis system is essential for effective diagnosis and efficient use of any scan tool.

The focus is on fast and accurate diagnosis!

Objectives of the training course:

• Maximising effectiveness of your scan tool
• Understanding different communication networks e.g. CAN
• Fault finding vehicle communication networks
• OBDII, EOBD and OEM diagnostics
• Understanding fault setting parameters

Course topics include:

• Background of the vehicle diagnostics system
• Vehicle multiplexing concepts
• Communication network structures and fault finding (e.g. CAN)
• Detailed investigation of OBD and OBDII systems
• OBD-II code structures, setting and clearing conditions
• Use of scan tools for improved fault diagnosis, tips and shortfalls
